💻 Joining The Porch on a Computer
You can join The Porch right from your browser — no downloads needed.
1. Click “The Porch” in the top menu
or
Click the “The Porch Chat” button on the homepage.
Both buttons take you to our official Matrix room link.
2. Choose Element when asked how you want to open the room
You’ll be taken to a page that asks which app you want to use.
Select Element.
3. Sign in or create a free Matrix account
• If you already have a Matrix account, sign in normally.
• If you’re new, choose Create Account and follow the steps.
Once you’re signed in, you’ll be taken straight into The Porch chat room.
📱 Joining The Porch on Mobile (iPhone or Android)
Mobile devices require the Element app to open Matrix rooms. The chat will not open in your phone’s browser without the app.
1. Tap “The Porch” in the top menu
or
Tap the “The Porch Chat” button on the homepage.
This will open our Matrix room link.
2. Install the Element app when prompted
If you don’t already have Element installed, your phone will ask you to download it.
• iPhone: App Store → search Element
• Android: Google Play → search Element
Install the app and open it.
3. Sign in or create a Matrix account
• Sign in if you already have an account
• Or tap Create Account to make one
4. After signing in, your phone will automatically open The Porch
You’ll be placed directly into the chat room once Element recognizes the link.

Once you’re inside, you’ll find a warm, welcoming space to talk, connect, and be yourself. Matrix requires sign‑in to protect your privacy and keep the room safe from bots and spam.
Pull up a chair, say hello, and make yourself at home. 🌅
